Although I have already played "A Friendly Game of Chess" for my show, it bears repeating for Monday night (and not just because it's a fantastic mix). This mix and the new mix, "Commonwealth Kids," were both created using the same technique: One DJ starts off the mix by crafting his own segment, then sends it to the other DJ, who continues the flow into his own segment, which is then sent back to the other DJ. This process continues until they have reached a length suitable for one CD. I have taken both of these mixes and edited them to one-hour-friendly versions, so they are not played in their entirety, but the feel of the mixes remains very much the same as the originals.
Oh yeah, check out the pretty amateurish cover art that I created for each mix. Here's an excerpt from an e-mail I received from Buddy Peace regarding the "Commonwealth Kids" cover art:
"Ahahahahaa!!
Fucking legendary!!!
That contains exactly the right amount of intensity David - you are a
very talented man, and I think you have just created the artwork for
the second pressing.
Amazing!
In a bit homie - thank you too much for the intense cover, it's phenomenal!
Printouts and stickers to come..."
Truthfully, I bet he was just trying to be nice.
